SaViNg a LiFe.. one dragonfly at a time

This morning on our way out to take Lys, Lex and Ash to kids camp, I was getting Weston in the car and he says 'Look Mom! Theres a dragonfly!'. 'Where West?' I said. 'Right There!!', as he points to the floor. I look down and there was a poor little dragon fly with one wing stuck in what looked like spilled popscicle juice on the garage floor. I said 'Oh, West, look his wing is stuck in the juice'. And he said so sincerely 'Mom, We have to help him!'. Ahhh thank goodness! My son isn't ALL about torture! Having a hunter for a husband, I get thinking he doesnt realize how precious life can be. And you cant always kiss someone better after shooting them (even if its with toy guns), and expect them to get back up. Last time camping, I swear He would have shot anything walking by. Sure its just a little dragonfly (although I do love dragonflys. They are right there with butterflys in my book. Beautiful creatures... and Cody, I'm no tree hugging hippie, before you say it :P), he recognized he was struggling and wanted to help. So we grabbed some water , poured it on his wing and he started flapping his wings, so very fast, coming loose. We took him to the grass in the sun, but he was still having a hard time flying. He wasnt there when we got home so I hope he did better, to live at least one more day. Weston was so proud to help the little guy out though. Fly, Dragonfly, Fly.

My boys would have been right by Weston's side! They save live bugs all the time and make them a better home, feed them, and take them on walks. They even ask me if they can bring them in the house. Their favorite right now is Rollie Pollie's! I love your picture of the dragonfly. I need a camera like yours! We need to get together again. Maybe next week???

So Sweet! What a sweet boy you have. I saw the biggest dragonfly today. I love them too, they are so beautiful and so amazing. Heavenly Father must have the most amazing imagination, he created so many beautiful things in this world of ours.

What a cute story. It's fun to see the big tough boys show their tender side.

We have a dragon fly story but it didn't turn out so good. (broken wing I think) But the kids had a great time trying to make it feel comfortable. Did you know that they eat other flying bugs. I didn't! But we have many flies in our house because people don't shut doors so he was well feed! I'm glad that your Weston was able to save his dragon fly!
